Beginning Knitting

This course introduces (re-introduces) the art of knitting through hands-on, supportive instruction in a small class setting.  Students will learn all the knitting basics necessary to begin the life-long journey of this fiber art.  The beginner student is introduced to the vast array of creative possibilities through yarn and needle size selection and knitting pattern opportunities.

Topics include:  Casting on (putting stitches on the needle), basic knitting, trouble-shooting and binding off (taking stitches off the needle and finishing the project).

Exciting Winter Projects

This winter, Slip Knot has scheduled Wednesday night workshops concentrated on a series of projects from 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders.

The projects we will be featuring are:

Garter Stitch Loop-Through Scarf

Here’s a clever construction that will keep your scarf tidy at all times.  Both ends of the scarf have a loop through which to pull the other end, so no matter which way you put it on, you can choose right through left or left through right.  The shaping makes the ends stay where put!

This two night workshop will be held on Wednesday January 20 and 27, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

Cost: $25/workshop + Supplies to be purchased at Slip Knot.

Little Green Wristlets

These wristlets are knitted in any worsted weight yarn.  Choose an alpaca blend or a handpainted merino and knit them  from the finger opening to the cuff.  They are trimmed with yarn-over eyelet rounds and there is subtle shaping for the right and left hands.

This two night workshop with be held on Wednesday February 3, 10, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

Cost: $25/workshop + Supplies to be purchased at Slip Knot.

Lace Kid Merino Cowl

This light and lofty cowl can be worn around the neck as a warmer or, better yet, up over the head – the scalloped edge frames your face when you wear it this way.  The bottom is bound off with a picot edge, and the large size needle produces the lovely open lacework.

This two night workshop with be held on Wednesday February 17, 24, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

Cost: $25/workshop + Supplies to be purchased at Slip Knot.

Smock-a-Ruche Scarf

Knitting in a smocking pattern that creates ruches between the smocks, this pattern is fun to knit.  The wavy silhouette gives the scarf lots of places to interlock, creating a nice snug fit for a cold winter day – or night!

This two night workshop with be held on Wednesday March 3, 10, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

Cost: $25/workshop + Supplies to be purchased at Slip Knot.
